Our CEO, Alan West MBE, was selected to represent the South East Region of the UK in the inaugural Barclays Entrepreneurs Awards as a finalist in the Social Entrepreneur Category.

The national winners were announced at the awards dinner on 3rd November at Landing 42, the Leadenhall Building, London.  It was an opportunity for Barclays to recognise its clients’ entrepreneurial successes, leadership and positive impact on the community within which they work. The regional heats took place across eight UK regions with panels of senior Barclays personnel participating in the selections.

Ashok Vaswani, CEO Barclays UK, said “Selecting 32 regional winners from more than 400 entries was a huge undertaking but the finalists all play a critical role in innovation and adding value to the economy by creating employment, generating wealth and we are proud to be the banking partner to some of the most innovative businesses in the UK and beyond”.

Alan commented that it was a most prestigious and enjoyable event providing the opportunity to meet and network with so many interesting men and women involved in diverse businesses across the country. “I congratulate the winner of the Social Entrepreneur Category, Chris Barker from Spirit Healthcare, which provides products to the NHS in support of the fight against diseases such as diabetes”.
